Pitch Smart / Arm Care

TJ Jaguars follows MLB Pitch Smart guidelines to protect young arms. All coaches must adhere to these pitch count limits and rest requirements.

Warning Signs of Arm Fatigue

  • Decreased velocity or accuracy during a game
  • Complaints of pain in the elbow or shoulder
  • Changes in throwing mechanics or arm slot
  • Reluctance to throw or play catch
  • Swelling or tenderness around the elbow

If any of these signs appear, remove the pitcher immediately. When in doubt, sit them out.

SafeSport Training

The U.S. Center for SafeSport provides training to prevent abuse in sport. TJ Jaguars requires all coaches and volunteers to complete SafeSport training before working with players.

League Requirement

All head coaches, assistant coaches, and regular volunteers must complete the SafeSport Trained Core certification before the start of each season. The course is free and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete online.
