Why Volunteer?

TJ Jaguars Baseball runs on the passion and dedication of our volunteer community. Whether you have coaching experience or just want to help out, there is a role for everyone. Volunteering is a great way to stay involved in your child's baseball experience and give back to the community.

Volunteer Roles

Head Coach

Lead a team through the season. Responsible for practices, game management, and player development.

Assistant Coach

Support the head coach during practices and games. Help with drills, batting practice, and player instruction.

Team Manager

Handle team communications, snack schedules, and logistics. The organizational backbone of every team.

Umpire

Officiate games for all divisions. Training provided for new umpires. Game fees available for certified umpires.

Board Member

Help guide league operations, policy decisions, and long-term planning. Meetings held monthly.

Event Volunteer

Help with Opening Day, picture day, end-of-season events, concession stand shifts, and field maintenance days.

PA Clearance Requirements

Pennsylvania law requires all adults who volunteer with youth organizations to obtain the following clearances. These must be current (within 5 years) before you can begin volunteering.

PA State Police Criminal Background Check

Free for volunteers. Results are typically instant.

PA Child Abuse History Clearance

Free for volunteers. Processing takes 2-3 weeks.

Apply at compass.state.pa.us

FBI Fingerprint Clearance

Required only for PA residents who have lived in the state less than 10 years. Costs approximately $27.

Mandated Reporter Training

Free online course, takes approximately 3 hours. Certificate valid for 5 years.

Complete at reportabusepa.pitt.edu

All clearances are free for volunteers (except FBI if required). Start early — some clearances take weeks to process. Submit copies to the league before the season starts.
